Death as an animated and projected cartoon character undergoing an extensive washing in the Reuss waterfall opposite the Spreuer bridge (Spreuerbrücke) in Lucerne.
The installation «Schaurig Showers» planned for the Lilu Light Festival Lucerne refers to the bridge paintings of the Spreuerbrücke. The installed animation «Schaurig Showers» interferes with the Renaissance picture cycle and aims to become part of the dance of death for a few days using the contemporary medium of animated and projected moving images.
In keeping with its originals on the bridge, the Death shown in the animations is to act with whimsical humor. Death is now taking a break from the exhausting, everlasting dance of death in the pictures. He withdraws from his task for a short while and goes to freshen up. What could be more natural for him than to wash himself in the water of the Reuss?
