On the shores of Lake Lungern, near Lucerne, you can observe hundreds of butterflies on a walk along the «butterfly trail». A unique species in Switzerland. But have you heard of the «butterfly effect»?
This chaos theory states that the smallest changes in the initial conditions lead to different and unpredictable results. The meteorologist Lorenz explained in a 1963 article that a butterfly flapping its wings at one end of the earth can affect the climate at the other end of the planet. Recent years have provided frightening proof of this theory.
With a light installation that pays homage to the beauty of nature, but also to its fragility, we invite you to reflect on this «butterfly effect». The butterflies and their slow metamorphosis can be observed in the middle of a flower meadow. The square accompanies this metamorphosis with a play of colourful reflections, shadows and light. A sensitive and poetic walk to the sounds of organic music.
