ECHO is an interactive installation where fish made from recycled plastic respond to the audience’s voices with light, creating a unique personal light signature. Inspired by BIBI’s decades of freediving observations, the work combines synesthesia, poetry, and a subtle message about plastic pollution.
In mythology, the muse Echo is passionately in love with Narcissus. Narcissus is enamoured of his reflection in the water and neglects Echo. She dies, and all that remains of her is her voice, which repeats endlessly. The installation resurrects the nymph Echo through light and the voices of the audience.
