LUIO

The Lucerne Improvisers Orchestra LUIO, founded in 2021 by Charlotte Hug and Magda Mayas, is dedicated to improvisation in large formations. The ensemble, made up of students from the HSLU School of Music, is a testing ground and a place for different perspectives on artistic interdisciplinary work in an improvisational orchestra.

Under the joint direction of Hans-Peter Pfammatter and Charlotte Hug, this year’s LILU has seen the first interdisciplinary collaboration between LUIO and the DFK. François Chalet’s class created the video installation with expanded animation films, and LUIO created the soundtrack.

On January 22, LUIO will play two concert performances in the space-filling installation with expanded animation in St. Peter’s Chapel. The LUIO musicians will repeatedly meet and interact in mobile constellations in the animated worlds of the installation. This creates a constantly changing sonic, interactive network that can be experienced by the audience as a multidimensional space.

You can find more information about LUIO here.
