In 2022, Microsoft’s water consumption rose by 34 %, the same year ChatGPT was released. AI Fragments explores the often-overlooked environmental impact of AI in a 6-minute installation: the water usage of data centers, growing demand, and local issues become visible, raising questions about transparency and sustainability.
Hanna and Petra are a data design and art duo who transform data into engaging visual stories. With backgrounds in biology, UX design, and social sciences, they work interdisciplinarily, guided by curiosity, research, and experimentation. Nicoline is a musician and sound designer exploring the interplay of sound, data, and digital creation.

Learn interesting background information about some of the installations and their artists. The guided Lilu tour starts daily from January 15 to 25, 2026 at 6:15 pm and 6:45 pm and is in German Language. In addition, there will be a guided tour in English on Saturdays, January 17 and 24, at 6:30 pm. The tour lasts 75 minutes and does not include all installations. It is barrier-free – wheelchair users are requested to inform us in advance.
