Gravity

Gravity

“Gravity” makes the flow of time visible through the encounter of dance and ground. Each trace is created uniquely, guided by the audience and contrasted with a palindromic, endlessly running composition. In this way, a poetic interplay emerges between fleeting moments and infinite repetition.

“Gravity” presents time in relation to the movement of dance. The installation makes the flow of time visible through the dancer’s contact with the floor. The seemingly fluid traces visualise the moment of impact; each one is unique, as the audience controls the speed of execution. Both music and choreography are structured palindromically – identical forwards and backwards – forming an endless loop that contrasts with the visual time-lapse drawing.
